Kiso Kumite: Uke

The Defend­er moves back­ward at the begin­ning of each step (excep­tion: the right front-kick in step No. 11 is placed forward).

Kisos Uke (Defender)

1. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) low block

2. (left foot) Step back
– (right hand) mid­dle block

3. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) high block

4. (left foot) Step back
– (right hand) open hand block

5. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) high block, recover

6. (left foot) Step back
– (right hand) low block, recover

7. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) low block, mid­dle block, (right hand) punch to chin

8. (left foot) Step back
– (right hand) low block, mid­dle block, (left hand) punch to body

9. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) low block, mid­dle block, (right foot) kick, set back

10. (left foot) Step back
– (right hand) low block

11. (right foot) Step back
– (left hand) low block, (right hand) sweep, (right foot) kick, set forward

Detailed Descriptions

From masu­ba dachi, rei, then open to hachi­ji dachi.

1. Set your right foot back and out 45 degrees to your right, in shiko dachi, twist your body to the right as you throw a left gedan uke.

2. Set your left foot back and out 45 degrees to your left, in shiko dachi, twist your body to the left as you throw a right soto uke.

3. Set your right foot back and out 45 degrees to your right, in shiko dachi, twist your body to the right as you throw a left jodan uke.

4. Step your left foot straight back into a maham­ni neko ashi dachi and throw a right shuto uke.

5. Step back into a left jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a left jodan uke.

6. Step back into a right jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a right gedan uke.

7. Step back into a left jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a left gedan uke, fol­lowed by a left soto uke then a gyakzu­ki to the chin.

8. Step back into a right jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a right gedan uke, fol­lowed by a right soto uke then a gyakzu­ki to the solar plexus.

9. Step back into a left jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a left gedan uke, fol­lowed by a left soto uke then a right mae geri to the belt knot and set back into a left jun­zu­ki dachi.

10. Step back into a right jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a right gedan uke.

11. Step back into a left jun­zu­ki dachi and throw a left gedan uke, then a barai (sweep) with your right hand, fol­low with a right mae geri to the belt knot and set forward.

Pull back into hachi­ji dachi.

Close from hachi­ji dachi to masu­ba dachi then rei.
